extension polder house

01 05 2014

Extension to a wooden fisherman’s house in the polder in Noord-Holland, the Netherlands. The idea was to give the extensions the appearance as if it has always already been part of the house. The positioning of the windows is aimed at long views in the distance of the surrounding polder, while at the same time offering enough seclusion inside. The foundation is adjustable, to change the level of the extension, as the exsiting house is slowly sinking with the gradual lowering of the ground level of the polder.
