Moonsan library
The design of Hilhorst en Kang (Rotterdam/Chungju) and Shinhan Architects (Seoul) was awarded 2nd place in the competition for the new Paju Moonsan Library, for Paju city in South Korea.
Paju, a city of books, is close to the border with North Korea, and close to the ecological treasure trove of the demilitarized zone. We tried to reflect the desire for peace and the relation with nature in an open pavilion structure, with most of the 5300 m2 program underground.
